thoughts from annie

Dear Friends,

With sunshine, showers and gorgeous spring flowers starting to bloom, we are feeling particularly grateful for the arrival of Spring this year. I hope you will take some time this month to celebrate rebirth, life, and the divine within.

My daughter Sara and I are just back from a tour of ancient sacred sites on the island of Crete, where the Goddess/Earth Mother was worshipped 4000 years ago. We were powerfully moved by the deep sacredness of the earth’s bounty, especially apparent this time of year, when the wildflowers are everywhere, and the earth is waking from her winter hibernation.

Yoga is a wonderful way to re-connect with Nature. Our bodies and our breath are the clearest connection with the natural world, and in yoga, we enjoy getting reacquainted with both and become truly present in the here and now, celebrating with the earth, the miracle of our existence.

Spring has also arrived at the studio this month, in the form of our new class schedule, which starts on April 4 and runs through June 11. We also an exciting array of new workshops to look forward to, including:

  • Tummy Time™ Yoga Infant Movement in the First Year of Life on Sunday, April 24, 3:30-5pm
  • Deep Relaxation for Women on Sunday, May 8 (Mother’s Day), 2-3:30pm
  • Introduction to Teaching Yoga to Kids on Sunday, May 15, 10am – 1pm
  • Belly Dancing on Sunday, May 22, 1-3pm
In addition, Circle Yoga and Budding Yogis is honored to welcome Mitchell Ratner PhD, from the Still Water Mindfulness Meditation Center in Silver Spring this month, as he hosts Smiling Like a Buddha: A Ten Week Mindfulness Meditation workshop, from Monday, April 6 through June 15 (no class May 25th), from 7.30-9.30pm at the Circle Yoga Studio site.

For more information about any and all of our classes and workshops, please click on the links to our website to the right of this newsletter.

Please don’t forget that registration for the Budding Yogis’ Summer Yoga Camp and Mindful Learning Camp is continuing, but classes are filling, so please sign up promptly to avoid disappointment. Both camps are fabulous opportunities for your child to really learn and practice mindfulness and yoga as well as learn other skills. To find out more about our summer camp, workshops, and regular classes, go to www.buddingyogis.com for kids, and www.circleyoga.com for adults.

May the rain bring you new growth,

Annie
