One of the meanings of "yoga" is to yoke or unite our polarities so they do not fight and contradict each other. Our practice shows us how these polarities are, instead, complementary opposites that serve to make us more whole and balanced in our lives. In this workshop with Suzie Hurley, we will look at polarities in a variety of poses, including inversions and backbends, and use them to align the physical, emotional, and mental body in a precise and life affirming way. Anusara Yoga helps us to see the joy in both our unity and diversity. The workshop will include an explanation of the Anusara Universal Principles of Alignment and the Tantric philosophy on which it's based.

Reboot Yoga resulted from Amy Dara's observation of the students in her Friday yoga classes: exhausted, slouchy posture, with complaints of pain in the wrists, neck, and low back. These classes evolved to counteract the office worker's exposure to repetitive stress. The first half of the class is slow flow, stretching muscles that tends to tighten and strengthening muscles that tend to become overstretched from spending long hours seated at the desk. Gentle core strengthening is also incorporated to improve posture and prevent back pain. The second half of the class features deeply relaxing Restorative Yoga postures to soothe the mind while opening the shoulders and hips. Reboot Yoga addresses the physical and mental effects of the work week and rejuvenates the spirit. Please visit Amy Dara's website at www.amydara.com.
